National Reading Day

National Reading Day (NRD) is one of our signature programmes as part of the Movement which celebrates the joy and importance of reading. Into its third year, this year’s National Reading Day will be on 28 July, with a slew of exciting reading events taking place island-wide on 28 & 29 July.

Big Book Giveaway

Look out for us at Vivocity Outdoor Plaza and the National Library Plaza as we bring back the Big Book Giveaway on 28 July, where participants can receive three free books to enrich their reading journey.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

NLB @ Car-Free Sunday

 

 

 

 

 

 

Date & time: 29 July 2018, Sunday, 8.00am – 12.00pm

Venue: Cenotaph Lawn, Esplanade Park

Celebrate the joy of reading with us at Car-Free Sunday! Featuring storytelling performances by Vivienne Wong, Roger Jenkins, and Gophi Nathan, we have all you need for a cosy morning of books at Esplanade Park.

 

NLB @ The Straits Times Concert in the Gardens

Date & time: 29 July 2018, Sunday, 4.25pm – 5.00pm

Venue: Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Join the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the Singapore Botanic Gardens for an evening of well-loved classics. Look out for the NLB team who will be organizing a Read for Books charity drive. Free reads will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis. Make it a day to remember, and don’t forget your picnic mat!

In conjunction with the Singapore Book Council’s 50th anniversary, the National Library Board has organised over 50 inspiring and invigorating reading activities happening in public libraries throughout the island.

Share A Read is back! Share with us your favourite reads, and stand to win book vouchers! Simply recommend a book on Facebook or Instagram, use #whatareyoureadingsg and tag us @readingnationsg.

Use our emoticon stickers in your entries for a higher chance to be noticed! These collectible sticker sets can be found at all public library branches (except library@chinatown and library@esplanade), or download and print them out.

Winners with the best posts will receive $100 worth of Popular vouchers. Winning posts will be picked every week from June 18 – July 29, so submit those creative entries now!
